Memed Sosiawan meraih gelar sarjana pada bidang teknik sipil dari Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November dan gelar magister pada bidang ekonomi dari Universitas Indonesia. Ia memiliki spesialisasi pada analisis kebijakan teknik sipil yang didapatnya dari karir profesional sebagai praktisi di sektor swasta dan saat menjabat di lembaga publik.

Pengalaman karir professionalnya antara lain saat bekerja pada PT Atelier 6 Struktur, PT Decorient Indonesia dan PT Petrosea sedangkan pengalaman di lembaga publik saat menjabat staf khusus Menteri Perumahan Rakyat (2004 – 2009), Anggota DPR RI (2009 – 2014) Komisi V yang membidangi urusan infrastruktur dan perhubungan, Anggota Lembaga Pengkajian MPR RI (2015 – 2019), dan saat ini menjabat sebagai Anggota Komisi Kajian Ketatanegaraan (K3) MPR RI.

Dengan latar belakang pengalaman tersebut, Ia mampu menghasilkan analisis kebijakan pada bidang teknik sipil dengan cepat dan berbobot.

Sebagai Ketua Dewan Pembina, tugasnya memantau kerja pengurus dan memperluas relasi guna mendukung kerja RETaS Institute untuk menyediakan analisis yang solutif dari berbagai persepsi lintas sektoral.
